Our Story

Tres Jolie Solace opened in 1995 as an alternative to the frenetic and impersonal dynamic of large-scale salons. Owner Mary Keating aimed to create an intimate, comforting haven that incorporates skillful services with the soothing properties of aromatherapy, high touch, and an ambience designed to relax. Personalized guest care, attention to detail, and an inclusive, welcoming energy are the hallmarks of Tres Jolie Solace. Even our name reflects our desire to provide a lovely respite from the busy world.

As an Aveda salon and spa, we align with Aveda’s global leadership in ethical and sustainable business practices. We share its commitment to exceptional quality in products and services. Our team’s expertise is second to none, thanks to their ongoing education in contemporary trends and techniques.

Giving back to our community is integral to our mission and vision. Tres Jolie Solace supports fundraising initiatives for numerous causes, devoting special time and attention to nonprofits and the environment.

About The Owner

Mary Keating

Owner of Tres Jolie Solace 1995 – present
Working with hair and creating that “certain” style for my guest is very identical to how an artist paints on a canvas or creates a sculpture. This is my medium of choice for creative expression. I love and feel the need to create shapes with various different textures that will complement each guests' individuality.

As I continue to educate myself I have been fortunate to be able to travel to many exciting places from Milwaukee to London, Milan, New York, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle. I have trained under many of the top hairdressers in the world including Horst Rechelbacher of Aveda, Vidal Sasson, Sorbie, Minardi, Wella and many more. Education still plays a big part in my career and my business. I’ve learned exponentially from all of the opportunities I’ve had in the industry and share that knowledge with my staff.

Tres Jolie was created in 1995 with intent to have a calming and relaxing environment to express my creativity as a hairstylist. Tres Jolie spread its wings into a day spa in 1998 and was then renamed to Tres Jolie Solace. A place for guests to receive spa services in addition to hair services in a calming and relaxing environment. Acknowledgment to the flourishing Tres Jolie Solace wouldn’t be right without mentioning the support and love I have received from my husband, Rick and two children Amelia and Myles. My passion for the creative business as a hair dresser would not be the same without them in my life!

My interest began in the basement of my parents' home cutting, perming and styling hair of my high school friends, family members and neighbors. From there I attended the Erik of Norway Cosmetology School of Hair Design. My career began in 1985 as an employee of Erik of Norway and understudy to Erik and Carol Knutson. I was hand-picked to perform on stage in the 1992 Aveda Congress Festival in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which was a huge honor for me. I also enjoyed being a part of many fashion shows and fundraisers.
